Before I was a bona fide Fashion Person, I was a full-time Beauty Girl, and the beauty world will always hold a special place in my heart. Even now, as I lean more and more into content creation, I find beauty brands are most eager to partner with me, and I’m grateful for the years’ worth of ingredient knowledge I’ve accumulated and can reference when deciding what products are efficacious enough to promote. But we all know the best proof of product efficacy is a formula so enticing, you use it up entirely. Empties really are the ultimate stamp of approval.
Below, I’ve broken down my used-up products into categories, including haircare, body care, skincare and makeup. But I’d also like to shout out one empty bottle that didn’t quite fit into any of the aforementioned groupings. After my yearly physical this past December, I asked my doctor to test my cortisol levels — I’d seen so many TikToks from women claiming a cortisol imbalance could be the reason behind feelings of exhaustion and stress, as well as weight gain. Lo and behold, the test came back absolutely wacky. “You must be so tired all the time,” my doctor remarked. And here I thought I was lazy!
When my doc recommended a supplement I could order on Amazon as the answer to my cortisol imbalance, I was immediately annoyed. Surely he wasn’t taking me seriously if he wasn’t giving me a legitimate prescription, right? Boy, was I wrong.
