Perhaps I should be somewhat excited about the fact that my entire summer wardrobe from last year is too big on me to be tailored, but frankly, I find it nothing but inconvenient. I have beautiful clothes! I don’t want to start over!
It’s perhaps the most first-world of problems I’ve ever experienced, and while I’ll definitely devote a solid amount of my free time to mourning the Farm Rio and Andrea Iyamah pieces I invested in this time last year, I need to shift my focus and find some replacements before my trip to Montego Bay next week.
I’m visiting Pimento Hill House with some friends and family to celebrate my birthday and the birthday of a fellow Pisces, and up until a week ago, I had not one viable option to pack into my suitcase. (Here’s a recap of what I wore last year, if you’re curious.)
Since then, I’ve done some serious damage online, downtown, and at the mall. Below, everything I’ve bought (so far). TBD on what makes the cut.
From Baobab
I first wore one of Baobab’s ultra-slinky designs back in 2022 (see the proof), and while I don’t think they’re the most practical or versatile pieces, they’re the ultimate statement-makers for vacation. I went into their Bleecker Street location to try on the Nia Skirt in Amaranta ($119, was $170), although I’m unsure if I’ll be able to make it work as a non-coverup skirt since it’s unlined. I also nabbed the Nia Dress in Ocean Tides ($210, was $300), which gives the proper mermaid vibes for a trip to Montego Bay.
