Good morning, B Listers! I skipped a week of For Your Consideration in favor of the espadrille roundup you so enjoyed, but I won’t lie — I missed this. I love rambling essays or long lists of market as much as the next girl, but I’m also the type of gal who favors fast food over a five-course meal — and the same goes for my fashion musings. Sometimes, quick and dirty is the move!
Before we jump in, allow me a moment to vent about my current closet overhaul. I’m in the process of packing up my winter clothes and making room for my spring/summer wardrobe, and for a myriad of reasons, I’m unhappy with a lot of the items that I put in storage last summer.
I usually buy with wardrobe longevity in mind, but not everything worked out as expected. Some pieces didn’t hold up as well as I’d predicted in terms of quality; others are fitting a little big (I’m on my gym journey, I’m just considerate enough to spare you the humble brag of it all). And even worse? Some just don’t thrill me anymore.
My question for you is this: Why is it so hard to accept that, every now and then, we make a bad buy? Getting rid of these pieces (I consign almost everything at Crossroads, BTW) feels like a total failure, an admittance that I made the wrong choice when I bought whatever pricey dress or matching set I’d purchased under the guise that I’d “have it forever”. But really, what’s worse: hanging on to things you know you won’t wear, just to save yourself the shame, or owning it and making space for the pieces you really want?
Of course, I’m in favor of the latter. It stings, but it’s so worth it, and it’s a reminder to be even more intentional as I fill the gaps in my wardrobe for the warmer months ahead. (And if you’re around my size and like my style, check out Crossroads in a month and prepare to be overwhelmed with cute pieces.)
Now! On to the Battle of the Bellas — jk, but be honest: would you choose Ms. Hadid or me? — plus a sporty-chic new Target collaboration, a luxury hairbrush and more. Dig in!
Two Bellas Are Better Than One
On Sunday, I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow Bella and experiencing her new perfume brand IRL (watch my recap vlog here). I’m not much of a fragrance girl in general, but the Orebella scents absolutely exceeded my expectations. What makes them unique is the alcohol-free formulation: they’ve utilized an oil base (featuring skin-loving favorite oils like snow mushroom, camellia, and others) so the application process is more of a self-care experience than a quick spritz.
The oily texture (shake first!) gives the body a glowy sheen, and while I thought Salted Muse (aptly described on-site as a “woody marine”) would be my favorite, I’m already making a small dent in my Blooming Fire, a warm, beachy floral that reminds me a bit of my other favorite summer fragrance, Aerin’s Hibiscus Palm.
In addition to the scents and formulas deserving props, I feel a special shout-out is owed to the packaging. The full-size crystal-shaped bottles remind me faintly of the magic stone in Dragon Tales (anyone else?), but what really stands out to me is that the travel-size sprays are also in a custom, crystal tower-like component.
Given that I’m not a big fragrance girl, I don’t always need the larger size, but I hate to skip out on packaging when it’s often half the reason a perfume catches my eye. The 10ml tubes still feel special — and they’ll be in my bag next time you see me, should you want to sniff for yourself.
Target Impulse Buy: Prince For Pickleball
Whether you’re part of the Challengers fandom or a mediocre pickleball player (I’m the latter), you’ll be elated by Prince’s new collaboration with Target. Debuting back in the ‘70s, Prince is an iconic tennis brand, and this collection features pleated skorts, graphic tees, track separates and more than look great on or off the court. They’ve even got pickleball rackets and gear, should you be so bold as to actually play.
Cropped T-Shirt ($20) + Mid-Rise Striped Pleated Mini Skirt ($35)
Woven Zip-Front Hooded Jacket ($40) + Woven Mid-Rise Shorts ($30)
Cable Knit Pullover ($40) + Mid-Rise Striped Pleated Mini Skirt ($35)
Short Sleeve Graphic T-Shirt ($20) + Mid-Rise Pleated Mini Skort ($35)
SYSS (Stuff You Should See)
Tory Burch’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection is live now on the brand’s site, and I’ve got a serious crush on this little raffia beach bag ($498). But in the words of Spongebob gasping for water (niche), “I definitely don’t need it.”
La Bonne Brosse makes my favorite boar bristle brush, and I’m so grateful they gifted me their latest collaboration with Pucci ($205). If you’re into the brush but don’t want the Pucci markup, shop their regular hairbrushes ($142, originally $168) in a variety of dreamy shades (I have/love the Terracotta).
Consider this a gentle reminder that H&M’s Studio Resort Collection launches today, and will likely sell out quickly (the link to shop is here!). Fingers crossed I’m able to get my hands on these gorgeous gold sandals ($189) or the matching handbag. Or both!
Lately, I’ve been applying Dior’s new Forever Glow Star Filter Multi-Use Highlighter ($55) underneath or mixed in with my foundation for a glowy finish. Pro Tip: I purchased Shade 3, which is a bit deeper than my complexion, for a slightly sunkissed, fresh-from-holiday effect.
