Why You Need A BYOB Bag For Your Next Night On The Town
Plus: The return of the groutfit, high praise for Veronica Leoni, and more. It's For Your Consideration, Vol. 9!
Is it self-sabotage to admit that I haven’t been all that focused on Fashion Month? After a dangerously cold NYFW forecast had me skipping shows left and right to stay indoors, I’ve spent the last few weeks dodging runway recaps and even scrolling past fashion hot takes on social media. Plainly and simply, I haven’t been in the mood.
That said, it seems we’ve been blessed with a bit of warm weather this week, and I’ve discovered a renewed desire to get dressed. I almost forgot what it’s like to want to Look Nice™!
Below, I’ve recapped just a few fashion somethings that have been on my mind, and I’ve added loads more to a rambling section of my Notes app to be dealt with at a later date. For now, today’s menu: next year’s must-have neutral, a practical date night handbag, the fashion rebrand no one saw coming, great lip gloss, and so much more.
Bon appétit!
The Grayscale Girls

Chocolatey browns and espressos have enjoyed their reign for the last few months, but come autumn, we’ll be shifting gears to yet another neutral. It’s the return of the groutfit, ladies and gentlemen, and I couldn’t be more excited.
While a full grayscale shade range hit the runways (see above), it’s true charcoals and graphites that seems to be making the biggest waves. I’ve been on the gray train for a while — nothing screams Miuccia Prada like the perfect gray knit paired with just about anything — but I look forward to swapping even more of my all-black-everythings for other neutrals that add a bit more interest. Scope a few favorites below.

Date Night Favorite: The BYOB Bag
The trending east-west handbag silhouette is getting slightly larger and more practical, and I hereby dub bags of an acceptably alcohol-friendly width and girth as BYOB Bags. Do you see where I’m going with this?
BYOB Bags are the perfect size to carry a singular bottle of wine — I’m not saying you would carry some sauvvy B in your Prada Re-Nylon and Leather Medium Top-Handle Bag ($2,600), but you could, hence the concept. Frankly, the Coach Empire Carryall 34 ($450) feels like the ideal piece to stow a bottle of Cakebread whilst en route to girls night.
Other favorites? The Freja Mercer Bag ($298) and Tory Burch Kira Diamond Quilt East-West Shoulder Bag ($589), both of which appear just a smidge smaller than the ideal BYOB Bag, but would most definitely get the job done. Feel free to leave your favorite BYOB restaurants in the comments so that I can start making plans, a.k.a. excuses to buy a new bag.
If You Feel So InKleined
Fuck the Toryssiance (JK, that’s sacrilegious) — Calvin Klein boasts the next big capital-F Fashion Rebrand. It appears someone at CK (and by someone, I mean creative director Veronica Leoni) saw every other designer reheating The Row’s nachos this season and decided to give us something to gush about. Cue the return of Calvin Klein Collection after a six-year hiatus, kicked off via a fabulous runway show in the Garment District.
The brand’s new Instagram bio reads “Iconic minimalism. Effortless sensuality.” And that’s exactly what Leoni’s CK Collection delivered. Simple but impactful layering, slightly oversized but structured tailoring, a dash of red, some draped dresses, and a few Ms. Darbus necklines for good measure…this collection really did it for me, and for pretty much else in New York, too.
Cool, wearable, and, even in total modesty, far sexier than any CK logo undies, Leoni really did her big one with the CK Collection rebrand. I’ll be curious to see if the bags and shoes move consumers when they hit the market, or if the collection will be doomed to exist as little more than momentary runway fodder. Cute and clever as it is, I doubt the CK One perfume bottle reimagined as a purse will be a big seller, but there’s no reason why the little brown bag with gold hardware clutched by Kendall Jenner as she stomped down the runway can’t be the next autumn It Bag come September.
SYSS (Stuff You Should See)
For those who love the OG sticky lip gloss texture of the early aughts, Make Up For Ever’s Super Boost Moisturizing & Plumping Lip Glosses ($28) are a new makeup bag staple. In addition to innovative formula and cute packaging, they’ve made a point to launch shades that match all of their best-selling lip liners. Anywhere Caffeine? Wherever Walnut? Boundless Berry? Check, check, and check.
Another new drop, this time a new handbag from Polene. The Osmo ($590) is a fresh silhouette that doesn’t quite meet BYOB bag size restrictions, but definitely leans into the current east-west trend. In six neutral shades of smooth nappa calf leather, I hereby dub her an undeniable 'beaut.
I just needed to make sure you knew this really pretty dress ($189) from & Other Stories exists before it totally sells out. The 3D floral appliqués are stunning, and there’s even a top version in pale yellow, although it’s selling fast online.
Casetify debuted the most heartwarming collaboration with Richard Scarry, creator of Busytown childhood faves like Lowly Worm, Huckle Cat, and Mr. Frumble, IYKYK. The collection reeks of nostalgia in all the right ways, and I’ll be damned if I don’t get my hands on the Me Time Sally Phone Case ($64).
