Not to besmirch the good name of an entire year just thirty days in, but 2025 is not exactly living up to the hype. But rather than wax poetic on the pitfalls of January, I’m choosing to hone in on all the good to come in February.
'Tis the month of love, of fashion week, of a trip I’ve been waiting on since I booked my flight in December!
I’d equate January 2025 to a month-long bout of Sunday Scaries — only instead of being stressed about a singular Monday, we’ve been stressed about the entire year ahead. And as I sit here today, sipping my emotional support iced coffee and holding a warm compress to the chalazion taking over my right eyelid, I’m hoping to be intentional about leaving negative energy behind and bringing only the best to February. In pursuit of a glimmer-filled February, IYKYK.
So, what’s on the docket? First, an ice-cold NYFW. February fashion week is always more low-key than her sparkly September twin flame, but given the extra-chilly temps lately, many are opting to skip this season. And I don’t blame them! Personally, I’ll be paring down my schedule to a few select things each day, and I’m looking forward to not running around the city like a stylish lunatic. But of course, those are famous last words. You’ll still see me out and about in some fun ‘fits!
The other notable moment in February — besides a lovely Valentine’s Day with my fiancé, and our first and only V-Day as an engaged couple! — is a trip to Pimento Hill House in Montego Bay. It’s truly my happy place, a phrase I once deemed cheesy but now fully understand. This place really does it for me, and it’s the perfect location to end my twenties before ringing in my thirties in early March. As a Pisces, it makes sense that I’d want to celebrate by the water, and there is truly no villa quite so special as Pimento Hill. Pat and I will even be staying in a room once occupied by Queen Elizabeth II. !!!!!!
Aside from these more major moments, I hope February will be filled with personal growth, time with friends and family, moments of inspiration, and the act of checking off a million things on my wedding to-do list that I’ve been seriously procrastinating. It’s go time, people!
To harness my excitement for the month, I’ve rounded up some favorites, inspo, and even recent purchases to create the mood board below.
I know Photoshop hates to see me coming!!!
Allow me to break everything down:
I nabbed the top left red plaid skirt from Burberry’s FW23 collection at their sample sale earlier this week (haul video here). I can’t wait to style it up for fashion week.
Another great shopping buy, this gemstone-printed coat by Moschino, which I purchased via TheRealReal and is currently en route to my apartment. Strong Bejeweled vibes.
Pat and I need to lock in and build our wedding registry this month. Exciting and daunting! First on my personal list is to select our dinnerware and fine china. Should I go Ginori? Which colorway?
I’ve included a few images from the new Jacquemus La Croisière collection, partly because I like the collection, but largely because I consistently find the styling and photography that accompanies these runway shows to be so poignant. Taking endless notes (and ordering a few fun pairs of gloves).
A few beauty favorites on the board, including Phlur’s Heavy Cream fragrance mist and the Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish: Glass 001 Artistry Mask. The former is a sweet cloud of spritzable serotonin, the latter an amazing way to bring an iconic runway beauty look to the consumers in a practical way.
Major style icons on my radar ATM include Sydney Sweeney’s recent street style sightings, Ayo Edibri in The Row (so Mrs. Darbus core, B Listers), and Dua Lipa looking like a normal person at the airport. But make it chic!
Tibi generously gifted me their blue Matt Heels, and I can’t wait to debut them this month. The hardest part will be finding a worthy outfit to complement them (I’m manifesting this red lace-trimmed skirt).
Colors on my radar ATM are pale yellow (still) and light blue. Peep the bananacore Hermés cowgirl from Spring 2009 I posted to Notes last week.
I’ve included a photo of my friends lounging oh-so-glamorously at Pimento Hill House in Montego Bay, where we’ll return at the end of the month to ring in my 30th. Pisces Swim Club, established 1995, baby.
“When you’re in your own lane, there is less traffic.” Noted.
Another good purchase, this time from the Woodbury Common outlets. Tory Burch cat trousers from their Resort 24 collection. Meow.
Another pop of light blue, plus an inspired styling moment: I can’t get over the effortless layering of a button-up beneath this brushed cashmere polo from J. Crew.
I’m not normally one for low buns, but I plan to copy this hairstyle using the Pearl Pin from my recent RPZL collection. I also need to put my black Morgan Cuff to use.
Should I pre-order Martha Stewart’s Gardening Handbook despite the fact that I live in an apartment? I think yes. It’s called manifesting.
I am about 90% over my desire for a JPG Shoulder Birkin, but this image of Grece Ghanem is making me reconsider. Or maybe it’s just another great pop of blue…
What’s on your February mood board? Let me know.
BTW — next week’s B List may be delayed as I plan to doll out another edition of NYFW B Roll and will have to set aside time between shows and events to piece that together. Trust and believe it will be worth the wait!
